Michael Donehue
Michael Donehue is a passionate mental health advocate, who combines his lived experience with formal qualifications and industry experience.
He has a Certificate IV in Mental Health and is an accredited Mental Health First Aid facilitator, currently working as National Services Manager with Alcohol and Drug Education Specialists.
Throughout his life Michael has battled depression and turned to both food and alcohol to cope. He has also had loved ones affected by mental illness and substance addiction which has fuelled his passion to bring these issues into the community for discussion.
Michael's key messages are all about normalising a difficult conversation, surrounding yourself with the right people and finding your key coping mechanisms to stay on top of life. Michael has spoken to audiences all across Australia, New Zealand, the UK and US and has been a guest at mental health and suicide prevention forums. He has also discussed his story at length on various podcasts and video interviews.
Michael's story is proof that if you set goals and put the right steps in place you can achieve anything you put your mind to.
